Family Owned

We have become experts, slowly and steadily, over the last 20 years. I have been doing this since 2003, when I started out working for Amazing Tails. I then ventured out on my own as Katie’s Pet Care Services, which changed to Paw, and now as For The Dogs.  Though maybe it’s been longer than that. This is me, at the age of 2 (yes those are R2D2 pjs) on the dock with my dog.

Wade started helping shortly after we met in 2009. I mean, no one else I had dated to that point loved dogs as much as I did, or supported me like he did. With all his metal bearded manliness, he was willing to drop a career path in bikes, that he loved, to trail blaze with me into a woman owned business -between you and me, I think that’s how he intended to rope me in. 

So slowly we have become experts, that we almost didn’t even realize it was happening. It helps that I was born and raised in Minnesota, lived here my whole life. That Wade was born and raised in Bismarck, ND: humble seems to be built into our DNA. We put our nose to the grind-stone, and we go above and beyond with-out asking for recognition. We don’t care much about our social media page; it seems a little too braggy to us. But we get that it’s part of the landscape now, and that is just fine. Progress is good. 

Compassion comes naturally to us. I have a degree in social work and alcohol and drug studies; Wade has a degree in elementary education. So even though I should have taken the advice of my father and got a business degree (sorry, Dad), it makes sense that we are in the field we are in. It’s who we are. We care just as much about having fun and loving our work, as we do about our community. So what better way to do that than by bringing  joy to you and your dogs?

Our philosophy of pet care is much like it is with our own kids. Firm but kind boundaries, nourishing them to be the best version of themselves, letting their personalities shine, just like we strive to do with our own children.
